A Zona de Fratura Oceanographer é uma estrutura geológica (falha transformante) situada no Oceano Atlântico Norte, que desloca da Crista Média Atlântica cerca de 130 km a 35° 10’ N e entre 35° e 36° 20' O. Esta zona de fratura tem sido exaustivamente estudada (Fox, Lowrie & Heezen 1969: Pitman, Larson & Herron 1974; Fox et al. 1976) e é caracterizada por um vale profundo, perpendicular à direção da Crista Média Atlântica nesta zona, delimitado por paredes íngremes que se elevam até 2500 metros acima do fundo do vale.

The Oceanographer fracture zone in the North Atlantic Ocean offsets the Mid-Atlantic Ridge right-laterally by approximately 130 km at 35° 10’ N and between 35° and 36° 20' W. The fracture zone has been extensively surveyed (Fox, Lowrie & Heezen 1969: Pitman, Larson & Herron 1974; Fox et al. 1976) and is characterized by a deep valley which is normal to the trend of the adjacent spreading centre and is bounded by steep walls rising to as much as 2500 m above the valley floor.
